Video Blog Fiction

For my creative writing blog post, I have decided to create a vlog about a fictional character. This character would be the personal assistant to a famous movie star or director. This character would do a daily vlog about his experiences with said movie star/director.

The problem I am facing with this project so far is a location that would be convincing.

How do you choose the movie star without getting too close to a lawsuit?

I would expect a hint of secrecy, and I;m not sure why, especially since it's going in a blog.

I like the web cam idea better. You would have less to worry about when choosing a location.

It makes me think of the skit they would always do on Crank Yankers. They would call businesses and pretend to be the personal assistant for some really famous person. It would gradually come out how crazy the star was because of all the weird things the star expected everyone to do for them. Like people bowing to them when they arrive and stuff like that.

Will it be a real movie director? Like your idea of Stephen Spielberg? I would say the less famous the director, the more credible it will be.

Setting....perhaps on the road. Like in the giant bus that takes you from one shooting to another. Or maybe that doesn't work for movie stars.

I say, as long as you throw in a few occasional curse words, you've got something.

This is great idea. I think it would be unique as well as entertaining. I like the idea of just going around different places in the city to kind of emulate a break from work. You can do a whole lot with this and I am sure you probably will.

Excellent concept!

In terms of the setting, I think you should take a hint from lonely girl or lazydork (youtube stars) and use a bedroom or living room.

It could be quite funny if it was as the start of a day, when you drop in and out as you have to get ready while vlogging, or the opposite, as you returned home.

Expectations:
Watch some vlogs, listen to what they talk about. They cover very little in a large amount of time. The key here will be to not be efficient. Rambling and being distracted will allow people to pick up on hints and details in your story, rather than being obvious with them. Don't be afraid to make your viewers work.

This will be entertaining to see your acting for this role.

While the vlog should look like it isn't professional, given the background of your character, I would expect the production value to at least be higher than average.

Setting could be as simple as a white wall, it is generic and could be anywhere, such as in the apartment of an assistant to a famous director. I would imagine somewhere in California would be good for the fictional character to live, because it would put them near alot of famous people.

The one thing I would consider is that you wouldn't want to get in trouble for saying untrue things about a famous person. I don't know if they would even car, but if it became popular it would be an issue you would have to deal with.

Your idea sounds great, can't wait to see how you portray this character. I think making it seem like an everyday thing for the character to share the latest gossip or experience on the set would be great.
